Although series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi hasn't made a Final Fantasy game in almost 20 years, the game developer recently ventured into the MMO Final Fantasy XIV and documented his adventures on Twitter. In his last post, Sakaguchi started writing about his clothing brand "sakaGUCCI", which he uses to sell handmade clothing on the in-game marketplace.
While Final Fantasy MMO doesn't allow players to design their own clothing, items purchased by other players will bear the creator's name, meaning that every item made by Sakaguchi essentially bears his signature. The "sakaGUCCI" costume is likely to become a collectible in-game thanks to the developer's long association with the series.
Sakaguchi has already sold a number of "collections" with pun-inspired labels and has posted a number of photos of players hanging out in their matching sakaGUCCI pieces. Each piece is crafted by Sakaguchi's Lalafell character, shown in a previous tweet as a level 90 weaver, and the price depends on how difficult the item is to craft and the cost of the materials.
In other tweets, Sakaguchi has urged players not to resell their sakaGUCCI items on the marketplace and to beautify them to the point that they are no longer tradable. He also tweeted a warning to players about removing the "Hironobu Sakaguchi" signature from items.
